He would have fed them also with the finest of wheat; and with honey from the rock I would have satisfied you.”
13 “He made him ride in the heights of the earth, that he might eat the produce of the fields; He made him draw honey from the rock, and oil from the flinty rock…
Dear Friends and Family,
Traditionally in the month of February our minds think of love as the world celebrates Valentine’s Day; a day set aside to honor the people we love the most. However, the world’s love will not sustain us through difficulties, offenses, betrayals, and the trials of life; only God’s love will do that. God’s love is infinitely higher than the love this world has to offer. The Word of God tells us that nothing can separate us from His love; many things can separate us from the kind of love we share in the world. The Word of God tells us that love, God’s love, does no harm; man’s love often harms the very thing it loves. The characteristics of this love are listed in 1 Corinthians 13, and when you read it you certainly come face to face with the reality that the love we have for others falls far short of the love that Christ has for us. His love never grows cold or fails; our love grows cold and fails many, many times. In Ephesians 3:17-19 the Word tells us that the love of Christ is beyond anything we can UNDERSTAND with our natural minds…..we have to EXPERIENCE it and even then it’s beyond our mind’s capacity to comprehend it in its fullness.
Ephesians 3:19 Amplified Bible
19 [That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience];
Ephesians 3:18-19 – The New Living Bible
18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully.
As we approach this season of the year it would be a good time to look back through all our experiences in Christ, and think of the way He has led us in the wilderness of this world, and how He has fed and clothed us every day–how He graciously bears with us in all our weaknesses and shortcomings–how He has put up with all our murmurings, and all our longing after the “flesh-pots of Egypt” (the things of the world)–how He has opened the rock to supply us, and fed us with manna that came down from heaven, the Bread of Life (His own Body), and the sweet Honey From The Rock (His precious Word and His Presence). Think of how His grace has been abundant for us in all our troubles–how His blood has released us from all our sins–how His rod (His Word) and His staff (His guiding, leading, protection and correction) have comforted us in the darkest of our days. When you have looked back at the love of the Lord through the years of your life, then let your faith look ahead to His love in the future, for remember that Christ’s covenant and blood don’t stop at yesterday, but they continue into our future. The one, who has loved you and pardoned you, will never stop loving you and pardoning you. He is Alpha, and He will be Omega also: He is first (the beginning of your life), and He will also be last (the eternity of your life). Therefore, think when you pass through the valley of the shadow of death (this world), that no evil will cause you to fear, for He is with you. Even when you stand in the face of a flood of circumstances that threaten to overwhelm you, you don’t need to fear, for circumstances cannot separate you from His love; and when come into the mysteries of eternity you won’t need to be afraid, “For I am persuaded, that neither death; nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Are you persuaded of this? These are the refreshing, encouraging promises left for us so that we can come and drink of them in time of need. As we read of his wonderful love and remember the experiences of it in our own lives it should make us love him even more. The word tells us that we can only love him BECAUSE he first loved us. So if you want to love him more, than meditate on His wonderful love and it will compel you to “delight thyself in the Lord thy God.” Surely as we meditate on the love of the Lord, our hearts will burn within us, and we will long to love Him more.
He is the greatest love of your life. No one will ever love you more fully, more deeply, more unconditionally than He does. No one will ever know you more intimately than He does. Whether you choose to know Him intimately or not, He knows you that way and longs for you to know Him that way. He is the greatest gift you will ever receive, He is a priceless gift, no gems, money, power, success, or popularity is worth more than Jesus. If we never received another thing from Him in this life but the assurance of eternal life and pardon from the lake of fire we are of all men most wonderfully blessed. The joy of that one act could carry us through until we meet him face to face.
In light of all this, what should our priorities be today? Where should our heart’s focus be today? What should we be thinking about today? What do we have to complain or murmur about today? What can keep us from rejoicing today with hearts full of praise and wonder at this awesome Savior and His wonderful love? So if you find the circumstances of life have caused you to become hopeless, stressed, fearful, despondent, sad, rejected, overwhelmed, anxious, or any other such thing than let’s remember His love and his promises, and say as David did:
9 And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord: it shall rejoice in his salvation.
5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
11 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
In His LOVE,
